JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) along with 11 tourism businessmen (sellers) from four destinations, namely Bali, Yogyakarta, Riau Islands, and Papua conduct 'Sales Mission 10 Branding Destinations' at Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo exhibition (ITE HCMC) 2018. The exhibition will take place at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on September 6-8 2018. The Branding Destination Sales Mission 10 activity is an effort to promote Indonesia's leading destinations, including Bandung; Great Bali; Great Jakarta; Great Kepri; Jogja-Solo-Semarang; Wakatobi-Bunaken-Raja Ampat; Field; Makassar; Lombok and Banyuwangi. The visit of foreign tourists (tourists) especially from Vietnam is expected to increase this year, namely as many as 74,000 people or an increase from the 2017 target of 64,000 foreign tourists.
Regional Deputy Assistant I of Marketing Development I, Masruroh, said that Indonesia was aggressively aiming for the Vietnamese market as a promising market and its tourism growth continued to increase. This is in line with the increase in the Vietnamese economy that encourages the growth of middle and upper income earners to travel abroad (outbound). In 2017 the number of Vietnamese outbound tourists was 8 million. Its main purpose is to countries of Japan, Thailand, China. Meanwhile, Indonesia has not become the main destination for Vietnamese tourists when going abroad. "From a survey conducted by Kemenpar, Vietnamese tourists like luxury or luxury and modern tourism. They like shopping, spas, and resorts and this is a lot to be found in Indonesia, besides that many young tourists are looking for a tour that challenges adrenaline or adventure, "said Masruroh. Industry participation from Bali and Riau Islands, which are destinations with many shopping center, spa, and luxury resort facilities representing market segments that favor luxury tourism.
Niche market segmentation that targets young tourists who love challenges and adventure is represented by industry participation from Raja Ampat, Papua which offers adventure and nautical tourism. On the other hand, Vietnam is a country with a strong belief in the ancestors / gods and goddesses and Buddhists. Industry participation from Bali and Yogyakarta, which has traditions, culture and religious destinations can fill these market segments. As is known, to attract Vietnamese foreign tourists visit, Kemenpar besides conducting sales mission and participating in Vietnam's international tourism exchange (ITE - HCMC). Kemenpar also held a fam trip by inviting media, industry, and endosers to tourist destinations in Indonesia that are suitable for Vietnamese tourists. Bali, Yogyakarta, Riau Islands and Papua provide attractions that suit the desires of Vietnamese tourists such as beaches, culture and art.
ITE HCMC 2018 Activities The Indonesian delegation at ITE HCMC 2018 occupies a 90-meter-long booth D20 which will be filled by 11 tourism industries consisting of 8 Indonesian tourism industries (6 TA / TO, 1 ferry operator, 1 accommodation, and 3 local agents from Vietnam who sell Indonesian tour packages. In the exhibition and tourism exchanges B to B (Busisness to Business) and B to C (Business to Customer) are also given tourism information services to visitors, coffee and refreshment corners, 360 virtual reality videos, quizzes, interactive games and gift redemption, while at the opening ceremony, Indonesia will be performing art shows at Indonesia's mini stage booth in the form of dances that attract visitors.
