Garuda Wisnu Kencana or GWK, is a tourist park in the southern part of the island of Bali. This tourist park is located on Tanjung Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, about 40 kilometers south of Denpasar, the capital of the province of Bali. In this cultural park area, it is planned to establish a landmark or mascot of Bali, namely the giant-sized statue of Lord Vishnu who is riding his mount, Garuda, as high as 120 meters.

The Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park area is at an altitude of 146 meters above ground level or 263 meters above sea level.

In the area there is also the Garuda Statue which is just behind Plaza Wisnu is the Garuda Plaza where Garuda's 18 meter statue is temporarily placed. At present, Garuda Plaza is the focal point of a large limestone carved pillar that covers more than 4000 square meters of open space, the Lotus Pond. The colossal and monumental limestone pillars of the Lotus Pond Garuda statue make a very exotic space. With a capacity room that can accommodate up to 7000 people, the Lotus Pond has gained a good reputation as a perfect place to hold big and international events.

There is also a statue of Vishnu's hand which is part of the statue of Lord Vishnu. This is one step closer to completing the complete Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue. This work is temporarily placed in the Tirta Agung area.

This GWK which is a private property has several recreation areas including:

Wisnu Plaza

Panorama from Wisnu Plaza
Wisnu Plaza is the highest land in the GWK area where our temporary place is the most important part of the statue of Garuda Wisnu Kencana Wisnu statue.

At certain times of the day, there will be some traditional Balinese performance with a magnificent statue of Vishnu as the background. Because of its high location, you can see the surrounding panorama. Wisnu Statue, as the focal point of Wisnu Plaza, is surrounded by fountains and nearby well water which is said to have never dried up even in the dry season.

Parahyangan Somaka Giri is placed next to the statue of Wisnu. This is where water is located, which has historically been trusted by the people in the area as a blessing with strong magical powers to cure the disease and ask the gods to rain during the dry season. Because of its location on high ground (on a hill), this natural phenomenon is considered a saint and local believed to be holy water.
